While it does not feel like George Lucas' vision of Star Wars I still enjoyed it, and I'm glad I got to experience it in the cinema.
Let's start with the bad: The overarching plot was inconsistent, the movie doesn't take a lot of good risks. The movie had its plot twists but some of them weren't well-timed or well explained.
Let's just say that Anakin Skywalker's arc was somewhat ruined by this movie and without good reason.
Also the connection between Kylo and Rey was a little overdone, I actually liked the idea a lot but it's like we got full off dessert and it would have been the best if we saved it for after the main meal.
Now the good: I didn't feel bored even for one second watching this movie. As a fan, I got a nice feeling when we got to meet our fan favorite characters, and while the stunts were a little extreme compared to the previous trilogies in the saga it didn't feel like they were overdone. It was a visually appealing movie and there was a lot of things in it that we can appreciate including the amazing score by John Williams.
While it didn't touch me like the original triology, or made me want to dive in deeper in the vast and interesting world of Star Wars like the second triology, I would argue that this last piece to the saga is visually stunning with incredible special effects and a nice touch of nostalgia. You should not overthink this movie but instead grab some popcorn and just get ready to see some action.
